Was hei?t "nordamerikanische Stra?en"?
Erheblich! Komm da auch mal runter vom arroganten Deutschland-Sockel.
Danke Rainmaker f?r dieses Image.

Welcome to the club Chip. Not the best club to belong to is it. Wink
There have been a number of 1800 frames that have cracked in this location both on the left and right side. Some with trailers and some without. Even a few with Trike kits or Sidecar's.
There have even been reports of the Rear Triangle have cracks behind the welded joints at the top on either side too.
Early on when all the the issues about the Frame SNAFU's were still hot the limitations of the 7000 series alloy came up including that it should not be welded due to problems that the aircraft industry has ID'd with it. In passing it was noted that during the Frame Building Process after the Rear Triangle is Welded to the Main Backbone section the complete frame is put in a Truing Jig and Hydraulic Rams "Align" the rear section with the front (Steering Head). On those frames that need "Adjustment" there is a "Cold Set" applied to the areas of the problem joints. The proper method of processing the 7000 series alloy is said to include a Heat Treat Stress Relive and Re-Temper. From what has been related by some who have seen the frames procesed Honda was not doing that and was using the frames as-is with the "Cold-Set." What that does is set the frames that needed to be "Trued Up" with an area around the joints that are just waiting to fracture. Add a little extra stress or simply time and some crack where yours, mine and a number of others have.
On the good side Honda has been replacing most of the affected frames except for one Trike that I am aware of.
The only fly in that ointment is that Honda only allows the Dealer 16.5 Hours at the Honda Rate to do a job that takes a minimum of 40 hours to do correctly.
Good Luck and X you fingers they get it all back together correctly.
